Glass Art by Michael McMahon

The creative force behind Wonky Worx.  Michael is a programmer by day, and enjoys renting the OGC glassblowing studio weekly and creating pieces as an amateur glass artist.

He is passionate about glassblowing and making large heavy vases and other functional forms.  His glass journey started after seeing the Blown Away pilot preview on YouTube back in 2019, and those few minutes were enough to get him hooked.   A quick search  for a studio in Ottawa showed only one, and it was closing.  Thankfully it would reopen as a Co-op and the Ottawa Glassblowing Co-op was born.  Michael is a full member of the co-op and started classes in 2020 during the pandemic.  He frequently does solo work which can be challenging for large pieces.

Michael embraces the imperfections and the unique character in his creations and see them as milestones in his progress.  His mission is to bring joy and beauty into homes and offices through vibrant, functional glass art.
